Lights on every night from 8-11pm

Each evening at 7.55pm the bells of the St James church will ring across the festival to coincide with the lights turning on. Why not start your tour of HighLight by listening to the sound of these wonderful bells while you wander though Connections?

7pm every night on the Main Stage

Award winning clown Fraser Hooper has built a huge international following delighting audiences of all ages with his unique brand of contemporary clowning. With a nod to the great silent clowns he uses mime, audience participation, slapstick and eccentric dance in this hilarious show which delights all ages.

This is followed by local daytime MoreFM DJ George, who loves nothing more than entertaining.  He’ll be playing some tunes, sending out live shout-outs and getting us all up and moving. Stick around for fun and movement!

8pm on the Main Stage

Saturday – Macaulay Metals have been collecting scrap and donating the money directly to Alzheimers Wellington.  Watch as they present their cheque live on stage.

Sunday – A live auction to take one of the magical playhouses from Imagination Alley home to your place, where you can recreate the magic again and again. All proceeds made from these auctions go directly to Alzheimers Wellington.

Friday 20 October: Grove Roots

Born out of Waiwhetu Pa this local band were recently nominated for four awards at the 2017 Waiata Maori Music Awards after recently releasing their first album. Grove Roots play a mix of hip-hop, reggae, rhythm and blues, and soul with most songs sung in te reo.

Saturday 21 Oct: Niko Ne Zna

Niko Ne Zna is a Balkan gypsy brass music extravaganza. This nine piece band have evolved into a true gypsy juggernaut stunning audiences everywhere they go with their thrillingly energetic performances. Niko Ne Zna’s hypnotic melodies and wild infectious rhythms will set even the most rhythmically challenged moving and grooving!

Sunday 22 Oct: The Noodles

The Noodles are a real crowd pleaser with a huge repertoire covering everything from classic rock to contemporary – from the 1960’s to today. This three piece band have been the highlight of many functions and festivals throughout New Zealand are true experts of entertainment.

Monday 23 Oct: Sonny Southon

There is not much that Sonny Southon hasn’t achieved in the music industry. From working as a backing singer for Sir Bob Geldof and Duran Duran to releasing her own albums to critical acclaim, and even being joined on stage by Joni Mitchell to name just a few. We are so lucky that this talented and local musician has now returned home where she continues to write, record, mentor and perform.

Hiremaster Fire and Light show every night  from 9.30pm

Each night at the conclusion of the all-ages Main Stage show, look skyward to see the Hiremaster Fire and Light Show. This fire and pyrotechnic show is set to a powerful soundtrack and will launch from the roof of the War Memorial Library. This is sure to be a real crowd pleaser and a wonderful way to signal the end of the live entertainment.
